Earth Changes Update
(published May 29, 2006)

As the Sun nears an especially volatile Solstice point in June, Earth changes are heating up again.

Two days ago, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake rocked Indonesia’s central Java island, just as transiting Uranus squared the Sun, Moon and Mercury. Mount Merapi in Java, Lascar in Chile and Ubinas in Peru have been rumbling, spewing smoke, ash and lava this spring.

An incredible story is unfolding right now as the movement of three tectonic plates cracks open the Afar Triangle in Africa, signaling the birth of a new ocean that will split the continent.

At the Solstice Point on June 21, there are a number of volatile planetary aspects including a Grand Fixed Cross, Mars conjunct Saturn in Leo, and transiting Pluto opposed the Sun near the degree of the Galactic Center. We can anticipate even more and bigger changes.

As we make our way through this shift of consciousness toward 2012 and beyond, the Earth’s natural process of purification is accelerating. The June Solstice this year marks a major turning point, seven years after the Grand Fixed Cross Solar Eclipse of August 1999.

We’ll explore the Solstice configuration in more depth in upcoming issues of Alignments. For now, let’s just say this will be an explosive time.

Venus moves into her home sign of Taurus today. What a beautiful time to express our love and gratitude for the Earth Mother who sustains us, to hold a space of peace and healing in our hearts as so many, and the Earth, are shaken with the latest round of changes.

Earth Changes: Spiritual and Physical Preparation
(published April 5, 2006)

"We don’t need to wait for the Elders and the spiritual people to explain to us. We can see right now what is happening, and of course, rain, and the wind, and the earth, and the most dangerous will be fire...and that’s the beginning of a big destruction of a big part of humanity."

- Mayan Elder Carlos Barrios

Global warming, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, wildfires, volcanoes, disease, famine, wars, nuclear weapons build-up, political turmoil. The increasing frequency, impact and severity of these actions are signs that a shift of planetary consciousness is underway.

Indigenous Elders around the world agree. Earth changes are upon us.

The changes may seem chaotic, but they’re not. There is a clear purpose and, often, simple messages encoded in the seemingly meaningless death and destruction.

The December 2004 tsunami in Indonesia and the Fall 2005 hurricanes in the Gulf Coast of North America made abundantly clear the need for emergency preparedness and response. These incidents also brought light to vast discrepancies of power, wealth, class and race in our world. Earth changes are known as the Great Equalizer.

A massive earthquake near the Pakistani-Indian border in October again focused attention on issues of poverty and class, and emphasized the need for peace between these two warring nations whose nuclear arms pose a threat to the entire world.

The recent deaths in the coal mines of West Virginia in the U.S. not only point out issues of wealth and class, but also remind us of the dangers of our reliance on fossil fuels.

Earth changes

The changes are both natural and human-created. Any geologist of geophysicist will tell you the planet undergoes vast evolutionary cycles that are constantly (although usually imperceptibly) reshaping the continents, subcontinents, oceans and climates of our world.

Wars, nukes and many diseases, of course, are products of human ingenuity. As a people, we have contributed to imbalances in the Earth’s systems by depleting natural resources, destroying her protective layers, and ignoring her calls for help. While global warming, seismic activity and other changes are part of the Earth’s natural process of evolution, we have helped accelerate this process through generations of abuse.

Cosmic forces are also at work. On January 24, the longest gamma ray burst ever recorded emanated from the constellation of Camelopardalis, located between Cassiopeia and Ursa Major. Equipment on Earth recorded the cosmic burst as long as 700 seconds. On January 27, a magnitude 7.7 undersea earthquake rocked eastern Indonesia. What happens in the heavens affects us, directly or indirectly, here on Earth.

As Pluto, the Transformer, moves to align with the Galactic Center this year, we can expect more turbulence in the Earth grid. Pluto is associated with deep, lasting transformation. The center of our galaxy is a churning cauldron of raw creation energy. As Pluto crosses the degree of the Galactic Center in Sagittarius in 2006-2007, entire systems and structures will disintegrate, making way for the new.

The point of all this change is creation. We stand on the threshold of a new world age ripe with potential for planetary peace and enlightenment. Destruction is a necessary part of creation. We are very much a part of this system and able to affect the degree of intensity needed for change to come about. Each of us can participate consciously in this process.

Mahayana Buddhism teaches that enlightenment is possible for all beings in this lifetime. It’s up to those of us who are consciously co-creating the next world to help manifest this reality through our prayers and devotion, our self-healing, and our service to humanity.

Spiritual and physical preparation

The Weather Channel recently began a new series on preparing for natural disasters including hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanoes and wildfires. “It Could Happen Tomorrow” focuses on emergency preparedness in major U.S. cities including New York, San Francisco and Dallas.

Emergency preparedness and Earth changes web sites have been on the Internet for years. Survival training is available from government and community agencies, and from indigenous teachers. For me, “survival camp” on a Seneca Indian reservation in western New York in the late 1990s opened my eyes to a traditional, authentic lifestyle and helped me see the dangers of my “citified” ways. I learned that living close to the Earth could mean my survival.

Do you know your emergency routes and what to do if there’s no access to fuel, electrical power or (heaven forbid!) cell phone towers? How will you contact your loved ones? How will you stay warm at night?

Which plants that grow in your area are edible? Which are toxic? How can you tell if water is safe to drink?

Is your bugout bag packed? How physically fit are you? What if you had to walk, run or swim? Have you ever crossed a river on foot?

All areas of Mother Earth are susceptible to Earth changes. There are no “safe” areas, although coastal zones and flood plains are among the most vulnerable.

In additional to emergency preparations, these daily practices will help you stay centered, grounded and alert during the transition:

- Meditate every day. Meditation brings peace to your heart and to the planet, especially during times of extreme change. As my Iroquois teacher often said, “the more you meditate, the more clearly you’ll hear your instructions about where to be and when, even if there’s chaos.”

- Let go of fear. Practice acts of courage. Stand in your truth, always. Pursue your passion and purpose diligently.

- Pay attention. Notice what’s happening around you, on the streets, in the news (headlines only, so you don’t get sucked in). Notice energy shifts in people, animals, plants and climate. Develop and follow your inner guidance.

- Care for the Earth. Create a sustainable lifestyle, “off the grid” as much as possible and in harmony with the Earth. Commune in nature. Grow your own food. Offer prayer and ceremony for the Earth, especially on key planetary alignment dates.

- Nurture yourself. You’ve probably made a soul agreement to facilitate the changes. You may be engaged directly with the Earth during the shifts, with the souls who are crossing into spirit en masse, and/or with the loved ones they’re leaving behind. Allow time and space for deep healing of your self, the collective and the Earth Mother. A diet rich in vitamins and minerals will help you stay strong, healthy and grounded. Sleep when your body needs rest.

- Join with others of like heart and intention. Build community. Meditate, pray and celebrate together.

- Receive and give healing work. There are countless modalities of energy and bodywork, vibrational medicine, herbs and supplements to support your transformational journey.

- Manifest and create from love. Energy follows attention. Focus on what you want to create more of – not what you don’t want – in your life, your community and your world.

Discernment

It’s up to each of us to discern truth in any information we receive – on any topic. Just because something’s posted on the Internet, published in a newspaper or broadcast over the airwaves doesn’t make it true.

When I’m exposed to “truth,” my heart and crown chakras open, and I breathe an “aha.” When this happens, I pay extra attention because I’ve probably attracted information and guidance I need. How does your “truth meter” work?

I’ve had dreams of the Earth changes since I was a child. In recent years they’ve become more powerful, more visceral. Today they’re growing more frequent, and specific. I’m guided to be mindful of the potential realities of our world without going into a space of fear, to expand my daily practice, and to re-commit at a higher level to my path of service.

What is your guidance telling you?

As the World Shifts
(published December 1, 2005)

If you thought the past few years were exhilarating, exhausting and exuberant, wait till you see what’s ahead.

The countdown to the Golden Age is on. As vast cycles of cosmic time come to a close, new and wondrous cycles are beginning. We live in the transition period, the Shift of the Ages.

The Mayan calendar teaches that the evolution of consciousness is accelerating. There’s a 25-year window from the Harmonic Convergence in August 1987 through the end of the Mayan Calendar in 2012. During this period, special planetary alignments guide us in an accelerated learning lab.

The Grand Fixed Cross Solar Eclipse on August 11, 1999, catalyzed a mass spiritual awakening. This signpost in the heavens was a turning point, a wake-up call for Lightworkers to move more fully into their path of service.

In 2001 and 2002, Saturn and Pluto faced off with three exact oppositions that reshaped our world. Most memorably, the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., occurred between the dates of the first two oppositions in 2001.

By 2003, planetary servers had expanded their base of experience, and on November 8/9, 2003, solidified their commitment as six planets created an elegant Star of David/Merkabah pattern in the sky. This alignment, known as the Harmonic Concordance, opened a portal of divine consciousness and called us to a deeper level of union and service.

Last year, Venus danced with Pluto and crossed the face of the Sun in the historic Transit of Venus, transforming our ideals of love and abundance.

At the end of 2005, we stand at the threshold of a major new passage, the conjunction of Pluto, God of the Underworld, with the very center of our galaxy. The Galactic Center is a place of mystery and awe. From the black hole at its center, entire worlds are obliterated, or formed.

Pluto’s conjunction with the Galactic Center in 2006-2007 is at least as important as the ending of the Mayan Calendar just seven years from now. Pluto roots out spiritual sludge and brings to light issues held deep within the subconscious. The effects of this transit will be felt individually, collectively and throughout the cosmos.

The Pluto alignment offers a gift of profound healing, potential enlightenment, new levels of service. On this Sagittarius New Moon, may we aim like the archer for the stars as we prepare for the next round of transformation.

Earth Changes Update:
Shifting Electromagnetics and You

(published October 31, 2005)

Last week 67 pilot whales stranded themselves on a beach on the Australian island of Tasmania. Most of them died.

Strandings like this happen from time to time in coastal areas on many continents. They can be caused by seismic activity, extreme weather conditions and shifts in the Earth’s electromagnetic fields like those we’ve experienced during the recent Earth changes.

These highly evolved mammals navigate by sensing magnetic energies and through an inner guidance system similar to sonar. The Earth’s shifting electromagnetics can cause disorientation and distress among our cetacean friends.

Like the whales and dolphins, Lightworkers are extremely sensitive, susceptible to fluctuations in the Earth’s electromagnetic grid.

Many are reporting dizziness, disorientation, lack of mental clarity or focus, confusion, emotional shifts, changes in eating patterns, even an inability to meditate effectively. Sometimes you just have to lie down and sleep. Physical tasks take longer to accomplish than usual.

Although they may seem distracting, these “symptoms” actually mean we’re moving to a higher level of consciousness.

You can ease the transition in various ways...

- Increase the amount of time you spend in meditation each day. The more hectic the outer world and energies become, the more important it is to meditate. You may find it difficult to quiet the mind, connect with Source and remain in a receptive space, but the practice will be helpful to you, and it will assist in the Earth’s transformational process.

- In meditation and throughout the day, request the assistance of Spirit, your guides, teachers, angels and others in the ascended realms to send energy and guidance through the intense transitional periods.

- Follow your body’s cues about the amount of sleep you need, as well as the amount and types of food.

- Facilitate emotional release with body and energy work, crystal therapy, aromatherapy and flower essences.

- Remember all the Earth’s creatures in prayer and ceremony. They are experiencing and facilitating the Earth’s transition, as we are.

The changes are beginning and will intensify in coming months and years. Developing these practices now will carry you through this transition in grace.

We and the Changes Are One
(published October 17, 2005)

As the Earth swelled toward bursting last weekend, we joined with many others at ashrams around the world celebrating Fall Navritri, the Hindu Festival of the Divine Mother.

On a mountainside in southern Colorado, people of all races, including many India-born Hindus now living in America, offered blessed rice and prayers into a ceremonial fire on a quiet, sun-drenched Saturday morning.

The next day, we learned of the explosive earthquake that killed more than 30,000 near Pakistan’s border with India.

Was the timing of the earthquake, during this much beloved Hindu Festival between two major eclipses, a coincidence?

India and Pakistan have been embroiled in political turmoil for years. The late 1990s nuclear arms build-up between the neighboring countries peaked in 2002 when they came to the brink of war along their ceasefire line in the Himalayan territory of Kashmir - the area worst hit by last Saturday's 7.6 magnitude quake.

Eclipses are known to alter the Earth’s electromagnetic grid, catalyzing extreme weather and seismic activity along the path of the Moon’s shadow as it passes over the planet’s surface. Parts of both India and Pakistan fell within the shadow of the Oct. 3 annular solar eclipse.

The connection is intended, and our understanding is requested.

The Earth is a conscious being. She’s showing us what needs to be healed.

Just as the Indonesian tsunami last year and Hurricane Katrina last month highlighted issues of poverty and lack of preparedness, the earthquake in Pakistan raises awareness about South Asia’s vulnerabilities and the threat their nuclear weapons pose to the entire world.

Officials admit those weapons are still “installed” in both countries, although they claim they are “safe.” India and Pakistan are not the only countries that maintain nuclear warheads. Do you feel safe?

At the heart of these incidents is an unprecedented acceleration of the evolution of consciousness predicted by all major spiritual traditions around the world. We and the Earth are experiencing this process together. We are connected to and influence the changes.

From our human vantage point, the changes are incessant, relentless. They will intensify before they subside. Throughout this transition, the spirit of the Cosmos advises us to examine our lives, our beliefs, our habits, our communities, our relations with each other, the Earth and her creatures.

How are we being asked to change?

What is your role during these times? How is it changing?

Mother Earth is sending clear signals. How will we respond?

Earth Changes and Planetary Enlightenment
(published October 1, 2005)

"Mother Earth and Father, our Creator, and ancestors are awakening our many cultures from a deep, deep sleep."

- Blue Thunder, Eastern Shoshone

The prophecies of indigenous people around the world speak of these times as a period of spiritual awakening linked to the purification of planet Earth.

The period of greatest intensity began at the Harmonic Convergence in August 1987 and will continue through the end of the Mayan Calendar in 2012. During this 25-year window, we are experiencing an unprecedented transformation of consciousness.

In the last newsletter, we wrote of the Earth changes and prophecy. Hurricane Katrina had just devastated the Gulf Coast of North America. Global attention was focused on this region for healing, aid and peace even as the winds of a second great storm began to stir.

We had a group experience exploring prophecy, Earth changes and soul alignment in Colorado over the Harvest Moon weekend, when the energy of Hurricane Rita was just building. With our prayers and meditation, we set an intention to broadcast the frequency of love and peace throughout the planet.

Perhaps you did something similar.

After witnessing the horrific trauma and damage of Hurricane Katrina, many around the world joined in prayer to calm the waters and bring healing to the Gulf Coast region.

Did our collective prayers and healing energy avert the more catastrophic damage that Hurricane Rita might have caused on the Gulf Coast? The answer lies in our hearts.

The purpose of prophecy is not to forecast global death and destruction but to caution us about possible realities that may be created if we continue on our present course.

Notice that the tsunami in Indonesia last December and the recent Gulf Coast hurricanes highlighted imbalances that need to be corrected. The very poor and the very rich were most affected. Earth changes are intended to bring balance.

Prophecy awakens us to the possibility that we might choose a higher path that will lead to a more desirable future for all. It teaches us to remember our powers of co-creation and assist in shaping the destiny of the Earth and humanity during these times of accelerated change.

As we awaken to and follow the voice of the Soul…as we cultivate inner peace…as we learn to live in balance with each other and the Earth, we raise our frequency and affect the collective. We co-create a world of higher consciousness, aligned with the Divine Essence that is the source of all Creation. We joyfully experience and spread enlightenment as the creators we were intended to be.

Our participation in this transformational process is important to keep in our awareness as the October eclipses approach.

Eclipses affect the Earth’s electromagnetic grid, increasing the probability of extreme weather and seismic activity. These alignments of Sun, Earth and Moon are also quantum choice points when other realities are more easily accessed and drawn into manifestation from among the infinite possibilities available.

Which will we choose to create?

Post-Katrina Earth Changes Update
(published September 3, 2005)

“These changes might not be convenient for humans, but the Earth will make them anyway.”

- Sun Bear

It’s time. We’ve been dancing around the issue of Earth changes for years.

“Do you think the Earth changes map is accurate?” “Are Gordon Michael Scallion’s predictions true?” “Is the world self-destructing?”

Yes and no.

The attacks on New York and Washington, D.C., four years ago, the earthquakes and tsunami in Indonesia last December, and this week’s hurricane Katrina could all be interpreted as the fulfillment of spiritual, and scientific, prophecy.

We live in what the Maya call the End Times. This is the Great Purification, the transition period when the Fourth World is ending and the World of the Fifth Sun is dawning.

The prophecies of Earth’s wisdom traditions coincide with metaphysical and scientific thought. Throughout Earth’s 4+ billion year life cycle, she occasionally “cleans house.” Periods of intense seismic and volcanic activity, along with purification by water and fire, are a normal part of Earth’s evolutionary process.

In metaphysical literature, a previous round of Earth changes resulted in the sinking of the continents of Atlantis and Lemuria. Some believe they will rise again during this round.

Scientists may not agree with the Atlantean/Lemurian theory, but they will tell you that geological evidence points to periods of intense shifting of the Earth’s tectonic plates, electromagnetic grid and climate. Add to that the environmental destruction caused by rapidly growing human civilization - global warming, deforestation, thinning of the atmosphere - and we have a recipe for catastrophe.

Do humans cause Earth changes? No. Do humans contribute to the severity of the changes? Absolutely. Can humans do anything to lessen their impact on the Earth and ease the intensity of the changes? Yes.

Sustainable living along with prayer, meditation and ceremony are vitally important to help Mother Earth and humanity regain their balance. Throughout the period of the changes, we experience intense transformation, followed by integration at a higher level. This process happens at the cosmic, planetary, communal and individual levels.

What is your role in the transformation of consciousness? Who supports you? Whom do you support?

Vast cycles are ending and new ones beginning. These are challenging times. While we grieve the losses, we also celebrate potential new life and the countless acts of love, generosity and courage demonstrated in response to crisis. Through focused intent and the choices we make in our daily lives, we do make a difference in our changing world.

The Tsunami: Transpersonal Evolution
(published January, 2005)

This is a prayer offered to all those affected by the sudden loss of more than 100,000 lives in the massive earthquake and resulting tsunami that swept across Indonesia last weekend. We are all one, and we grieve with you.

This is a prayer for the souls who have departed. May you find your way home in peace.

This is a prayer for the Earth Mother undergoing such intense transformation. We are your stewards, and we honor your process.

This is a prayer for each of us as we awaken to the reality of Earth changes. We deeply mourn the human loss yet invite the shift of consciousness these changes represent.

Earth Shift

Like the events in the United States of September 11, 2001, the sudden, catastrophic loss of the past week offers an enormous opportunity to express love and compassion, to form deeper human bonds, and to increase our understanding of the transformational process sweeping our planet.

We live in the times the Hopi call the Great Purification. The Mayan calendar ends in 2012. The world as we have known it is shifting into higher consciousness at a faster and faster rate every day. Part of this transformation involves adjustments within the Earth that result in the kinds of movement we experienced in the past week.

Scientists tell us the 9.0 magnitude quake that created the deadly tsunami in the Indian Ocean actually shifted the Earth’s orbit and her rotation on her axis. Everyone on the planet was affected by the resulting shift in the Earth’s electromagnetic grid.

Personal Shift

We have felt this week’s changes in various ways. Many experienced lethargy, depression, emotional outbursts, disorientation, headaches and some more severe physical symptoms. Those who found themselves sleeping a lot were likely assisting in the transition of souls to the next plane and etheric healing work with survivors and loved ones.

The Earth changes will intensify in coming years. Each of us has a responsibility to participate in our own way. For many who read this newsletter, our roles involve assisting others and the Earth with the transition. Perhaps our most effective contributions are prayer and meditation. Through prayer, we envision the Earth and all beings in balance and wholeness. Through meditation, we anchor higher consciousness in the Earth grid.

“Learn to be still.” This is the way of peace. This is the way of healing. Our practice grows more important every day.

Transpersonal Shift

On an individual level, we are all undergoing an accelerated process of transformation, just as the Earth is. We are also transforming collectively. When we reach out as individuals to those in need, we heal the illusion of separation and remember our oneness. When we reach out as nations to help the affected areas, we heal the divisiveness that has plagued human civilization for eons. This is healing on a transpersonal level.

Catastrophic events serve as catalysts to accelerate our transpersonal evolution. As we participate in and witness the outpouring of love and compassion to our fellow beings, we know deep within that divine orchestration is at hand, that human consciousness is evolving, and that peace will prevail.
